The abduction of General Kreipe

by George Harokopos

Publisher:  Kouvidis - Manouras ISBN 960868837 - 290 pages

Available in English and German (you can choose language when ordering)

The abduction of General Kreipe

The abduction of the German General Kreipe, commander of the land forces of "Fortress Crete" by two British officers and a small team of Cretans in late April 1944 and his dramatic transport to Egypt, has been called the most daring operation of WWII.

This legendary achievement, however, was also the peak of a continuous, sensational, dramatic and decisive struggle which had begun in Crete immediately after its occupation by German paratroops, between the British Intelligence Service and the Cretan Resistance Organization on the one hand and the German Counter Intelligence services on the other.

The author, G. Harokopos, took part in the operation during the General's transfer from the mountains of Crete to Mersa Matruh in Egypt.
